Do you do hotels was the question and yes of course sir was the answer, this is how the above contract started and it was of course the right answer for us and the client as this turned out to be a great job for both parties.
After the initial contact we won the project in competitive tender and a great working relationship between client, Architect, hotel management and CDS was formed pre-start and this is when the project got redesigned! The simple refurbishment of three guest rooms remained but the main reception area and office changed dramatically and some head scratching over programming took place.
Once on site the problems kept arising with the old building throwing up all sorts of issues but throughout the hotel remained trading, guests were kept happy and progress on the works maintained at a fast pace. The Reception was fitted out with bespoke joinery including bookcases, new reception desk and storage units all with specialist paint finishing and a new Oak floor was installed. The Guest Rooms were completely altered with new Bathrooms, ceilings, lighting, joinery and decorating.
